In the Fall 2017 semester, I met with the various stakeholders in the effort to preserve and interpret the King Records buildings. They asked me to help with the National Register of Historic Places nomination for the King Records buildings in the Evanston neighborhood in Cincinnati, Ohio, which they plan to submit as soon as the buildings’ ownership changes. The draft of the historic narrative I wrote is here.
In April 2018, the City of Cincinnati and Dynamic Industries agreed to a land swap deal whereby the city will obtain control of the King Records Buildings.
Great work to save this site from the wrecking ball by the Cincinnati USA Music Heritage Foundation, the Bootsy Collins Foundation, the Cincinnati Preservation Association, the citizens of the Evanston neighborhood, and the current City of Cincinnati government.
